About
Pebbles Wadsworth
Pebbles Wadsworth began painting as a young child and has remained, at her core, a deeply visual person. Art has been the throughline of her life—both as a creator and as a champion of the arts in her community.
Her professional career was rooted in arts leadership. At just 27, she became Director of the UCLA Center for the Performing Arts—an unusually young age for such a role—and was later recruited to help build the Performing Arts Center at The University of Texas at Austin. These formative years shaped her lifelong commitment to creativity, collaboration, and access to the arts.
After retiring, Pebbles spent a year traveling the world before settling in Smithville, Texas, where she moved a historic Victorian landmark house to her horse farm and founded The Arts Cottage. The space quickly became a creative hub for the surrounding community, reflecting her belief that art flourishes when it is shared.
Today, Pebbles divides her time between Wimberley, Texas, and Jamestown, Rhode Island, with her husband, Chris, and their two rescued standard poodles—one of whom is a certified therapy dog. She devotes much of her studio time to painting people’s beloved pets, using her work to help raise funds for families who cannot afford veterinary care. She also remains actively involved in therapy dog work alongside her remarkable companion, Inky.
Pebbles’s life and work continues to reflect a deep generosity of spirit, a love of animals, and a belief in art as a force for connection and healing.
Painting Pets. Healing Hearts.
Pebbles Wadsworth is an artist from Wimberley, Texas, whose pastel pet portraits celebrate the love, loyalty, and joy that animals bring into our lives. Every piece she creates is more than art — it’s a way to give back and make a difference in her community.
A Lifelong Love for Animals and Art
Pebbles has always had a deep connection with animals. From her first childhood pet to the rescue dogs she’s cared for over the years, she’s seen firsthand the unconditional love pets give — and the heartbreak when they need care that their families can’t afford.
Her journey as an artist began with a simple desire to capture that love on paper. Over time, her work evolved into something bigger — a mission to use her art to help others. Today, her pastel portraits not only bring joy to pet owners but also provide veterinary assistance to pets whose people are struggling financially.

Art with a Purpose
Every commission Pebbles completes helps fund veterinary care for pets in need — from emergency treatments to basic medical attention that can make all the difference.
Through her art, she’s able to help keep families together and ensure that beloved pets get the care they deserve.
“I paint because I love animals — but I give because they’ve given me so much more.”
— Pebbles Wadsworth
The Creative Process
Pebbles works from photos, capturing not just the likeness but the spirit of each pet. She uses soft pastels on archival paper, layering color and texture to bring every detail to life — the sparkle in the eyes, the softness of fur, the gentle tilt of a head that says “I love you.”
Each portrait is infused with emotion and care, making it a treasured keepsake that reflects the special bond between pets and their people.
A Heart for Helping
What began as a small art project has become a heartfelt mission: to use art as a tool for compassion.
Pebbles believes that kindness, creativity, and community can change lives — and every painting she creates helps make that vision a reality.
